If you're looking for a great family sedan, does any name come to mind before the Accord? With over 23 Top Ten Awards from Car & Driver Magazine, it stands tall above many others in its class for reliability, safety, comfort, and more!
Well, the newest Accord has done it again, exceeding our expectations, and with several models to choose from. Here's what you need to know about the 2023 Honda Accord!
2023 Accord Specs
Following in the footsteps of the other years in the 10th generation of the model, the 2023 Accord has a sleek interior and exterior, thin LED headlights, and plenty of great features for every type of driver. It's only 2.8 inches longer than the previous year and a half of an inch wider.
There are several versions of the new Honda Accord at different price ranges, including the Sport Hybrid, Touring Hybrid, LX, and EX. The LX is the base model, and the Touring Hybrid is the most luxurious of the models we know of, also boasting the sportiest drive!
All of these come with a 1.5L-2.2L four-cylinder engine, and each has relatively high fuel economy. They also have a 14.8-gallon fuel tank for an extra long range.
Moreover, the new Accord also offers up to 192 horsepower with front-wheel drive. This is pretty powerful for a base weight of 3150 lbs.
Finally, the standard wheels come in at 17 inches, but you can upgrade to the larger 19 inches in the sports editions and with different trim options.
Fuel Economy
The standard EX and LX models receive up to 30 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway, which is comparable to the last few previous standard Accord models. However, the hybrid models can see fuel ranges of up to 47 or 48 mpg on the highway, which is quite high.
With a 14.8-gallon tank, that means you could get a range of above 600 miles for each tank. Good luck finding a standard gas-powered car or EV that can top that!
Interior
The new Accord has a sportier interior than we're used to seeing, especially on the sport and touring models. The dashboard has a 7" to 12.3" touchscreen display with all of the controls you need, and you can easily pair your smartphone via Bluetooth for hands-free calling or texting.
Some models include a 12-inch Bose speaker system, wireless charging pads, and a 6-inch head-up display. Overall, the interior is a major selling point for the new Accord.
It also boasts a very sleek interior design similar to what we've seen from recent Honda models. One of the coolest features of the new interior is that the vents are hidden behind the "honeycomb" style trim, which completely covers them. This is a clever design feature found in newer Hondas like the CR-V and Civic, and it looks great!
Cargo Space
While the Accord isn't the biggest car in the world, the designers certainly put thought into the cargo space in the vehicle. Its trunk was carefully designed to hold 16.7 cubic feet of cargo, which is the highest of its class of sedans on the market!
Also, the interior boasts a space of 105.7 cubic feet for comfortable passenger transport, as well as 40.8 inches of legroom for the rear seats. Overall, it's a sedan with a very generous amount of space.
Transmission Type
The new Accord uses a constantly-varying transmission or CVT. If you're unfamiliar, CVTs are different from a typical "gearbox", as they use belts for the drivetrain instead. This offers plenty of advantages, as your transmission does not need to shift harshly at varying speeds and road conditions.
Instead of gears, CVTs constantly shift their belts to find the optimal position for your driving conditions. This is much like the gears on a bicycle, except they shift automatically to find the ideal performance, and use belts instead of chains. You will never feel those hard transmission shifts, even when driving up a hill.
While these are slightly different to maintain, CVTs have come a long way in recent years, so they are not more likely to break down sooner. Believe it or not, the first model of a CVT was built by Leonardo Da Vinci, so we've had plenty of time to perfect this technology!
Safety Features
All new Accords, regardless of model, come with a host of safety sensors and driver-assist technology. This includes a braking assist, lane departure warnings, blindspot detection, and more. Some models may include greater safety and driver assist features, but this standard bundle is known as Honda Sensing.
The vehicle also boasts a 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA, which is the highest in its class. As we said, it's the perfect family sedan!
Manufacturer Warranty
New Honda Accords come with a 3-year or 36,000-mile limited warranty, so ask Gerald Jones Honda for more details. If you're worried at all about switching to a CVT, there is also a powertrain warranty of up to 5 years of 60,000 miles!
